Angels Watching Over Me

My husband had been very ill, in intensive care for two months. The Doctors still did not think he would live very long after sending him home. One night around 2:00 am I was awakened by a shimmering light that filled the room. I sat up thinking I was dreaming, but I wasn't. I even got up and got a drink of water. When I went to lie down, I saw three Angels on the wall. Just their faces and wings. We started talking with thoughts not words. My first thought was that they had come for my husband. No! Had they come for me? No! They just wanted me to know that everything was going to be ok. They knew that I had been under a lot of stress and wanted to tell me to keep my faith and they were watching over me. Next thing I knew it was morning. It has been four years since the visit and my husband is doing great. I was visited again last year but that is another story. May God keep in his care. --Sue Nelson

Scarlet Rose

ONCE THERE GREW A SCARLET ROSE BLOOMING BY MY DOOR
FORGOTTEN THERE, IT WITHERED THERE, AND THEN IT BLOOMED NO MORE,

THE WEEDS AND GRASS GREW OVER IT, AND THEY DRANK, ALL THE RAIN
TOO WEAK TO BEAR THE WINTER FROST THERE WERE NO BLOOMS THIS SPRING

I PULLED THE WEEDS AND GRASS AWAY AND PUSHED THE DIRT ASIDE
I LOOKED BENEATH THE SOIL TO SEE IF ALL THE ROOTS HAD DIED

THEN SUDDENLY, WONDROUSLY, I SAW A BIT OF GREEN,
AN ANGEL WEPT, TILL SOMEONE CARED AND TEARS REPLACED THE RAIN

I'LL KEEP THE WEEDS AND GRASS AWAY, MY ROSE, YOU'LL DRINK THE RAIN,
PROTECT YOU FROM THE WINTER FROST MY ROSE YOU'LL BLOOM AGAIN.

by Sally Lewis

My mom wrote this after a terrible fight with depression, having to deal with 7 hungry little children in a house all too small for so many, and all to sad living with my alcoholic father... we always had music and laughter and mother always found some way to give praises to God and his angels for keeping her and my brothers and sisters and I alive in such a violent and oppressive environment. Finally, after too many years of abuse and starvation, mother gathered her courage and left my dad. She wrote this song shortly there after. The rose signifies her heart and the elements the oppressor, the weeds and grass that smothered were my father and the alcohol he loved more than us. Mothers prayers were answered and we were saved by a single choice... to do the best thing for the children gave my mother strength to make the best possible decision. She took care of us with getting help from anyone but our Lord and this poem which is now a song, signifies the power of prayer and faith in love through grace and hope and I thought I would finally share it with others.--Love, Sherrie McBurney

The Kitten

This morning I got up around 4:45am to go to the bathroom. I heard a noise coming from out side but didn't think it was anything....so I ignored it.

Then when I looked out the bathroom window I saw a little kitten, had fallen into our pool.
I rushed outside and fished the kitten out. I took him on to the deck and wrapped a towel around him, taking a moment to look to see what kitten it was. This was Hercules, the hearing impaired kitten..... because he is deaf he doesn't meow very much.

In my eye God was watching over him.
Just yesterday my Dad had put in the bathroom window screen, allowing me to see out, and I rarely ever get up in the middle of the nite to use the bathroom, just when the deaf kitten had fallen in . . . in time to save him. --Brianne

The Robin

In the spring, I was at my parents using their computer. The weather was sunny, so I opened the door to the backyard. A sound behind me startled me.
I spun around and saw a red-breasted robin, sitting on the door, chirping and warbling excitedly for all he was worth.
This struck me as odd, as usually the little guys fly away from people, not TO them. He chirped a little longer and then flew away.
I could not let my first robin-sighting of spring end so soon, so I followed the bird out the back door to see which way he had flown. That is when I heard another startling sound. Something was splashing in the swimming pool.
I grabbed the net and fished out a little bird who was trying to keep its beak above water.
Was the first "rescue robin" a messenger from the Lord of the Creatures, who knew he could count on me? I don't know, I just keep my eyes and ears open for distress calls. Someday, I might need the rescue too. --Susan
